I love the colour Lilac and this sitting room above/below is one of my favourite pics. I love the 19th century Louis-style french chairs, the Baker couch, the chevron cushions mixing old and new and the touches of gold especially in that artwork by Dorryce Rock (below)…aaahh heaven to me!! And the designer behind such perfection you ask : Mr Brendan Wong.
Brendan Wong was featured in the Feb/March issue of Belle this year with this Sydney two bedroom apartment. He helped restore the art deco space while enhancing the owners furnishings. He says his work has an “Understated Luxury”. “It’s more about beautiful things and well detailed finishes than matching like for like.” I couldn’t agree more!!
I once went a bit wild (well about as wild as I get) and painted lilac on the walls of our lounge in our former house many years ago. It did make the space feel alive and I did love it at the time, more probably for the fact I had the guts to do it. This space however is far more sophisticated and luxe by using lilac in the furnishings with the walls here painted in the most perfect dulux colour, “Lexicon” at quarter strength which compliments everything in the room. And with a few different accessories you would have a totally new look.
The room below was included in Australian House and Garden’s Top 50 Room’s for 2011. Look at the difference cushions and other accessories make to change the mood of the room below.

Understated Luxury indeed!
