Well, it’s been a couple of months now of trying to blog every week day and it’s had it’s ups (mostly) and downs (only a couple). So how am I adjusting to this blogging life you might ask? Well, with trying to organize a son for pre-school and having a 20 month old offsider, a household to run (although thanks to my very supportive husband who has helped me out quite a bit, thanks Mr M), certain things have fallen by the wayside at times (I know the ironing basket is under there somewhere), but they have to for now I suppose cause there are only so many hours in the day. But I am loving it! And I know that as I keep on blogging, ideas and posts should flow more easily and as I get better at it I will take less time.
Trying to find time to get the projects done I want to share with you is a little tricky. Especially with a daughter who has learnt how to open doors so painting will have to wait for better outdoor conditions. She now walks around the house with a paintbrush (brand new though, never used) in her hand “painting rainbows” so that is cute to see.
As a mum who is lucky to be able to stay home to look after my kids I feel very blessed as it’s something I love! It can be hard at times but it’s also the best and most rewarding job in the world. The drawback with trying to work from home is you are available to them 24/7 and the “mummy is trying to work at the moment chickie” doesn’t quite pull rank over “mummy help peese”, so posting doesn’t tend to happen around here unless it’s “quiet time”…when somebody’s sleeping and generally it’s when it should also be me (hence the luxe addition pic of the bed above). So please bare with me if sometimes I sound a little fuzzy round the edges and make no sense or miss a post or two. At the end of the day, they are my top priority and if they need me I will choose them, after all they are the joys of my life and family always comes first.
Schedule, I think making a schedule and having set “computer hours” and deadlines with the blog so it doesn’t end up totally consuming my life in the future might be a way to go. Unfortunately the vacum cleaner and the iron don’t have the same electrical pull over me, hehe. Scheduling in housework, projects, playtime, family time, couple time, friends time and mummy time as well. Scheduling in life as bad as that sounds but we should schedule that first and foremost.
I have found blogging to be very satisfying as it is a fantastic creative outlet. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and I feel like I am working towards a bigger eventual goal. I’m still trying to figure out exactly what that end goal will be… at the moment I love the idea of an on-line shop selling one-off or hard to find unique luxe pieces but we shall see.
And when it comes to interior design work I only take on a very small amount at this stage as they do take up a lot of time. When my daughter goes to school in a few years maybe i’ll have the time for more then.
So there you have it. I’m enjoying writing but how about you guys reading? I’d appreciate any feedback, hints or tips you might have and ideas for future posts you might like to see or posts you enjoy reading. In a few weeks i’ll be launching the site on facebook after a few tweaks (that I am still trying to fix) so would love for your feedback.
Thanks for reading
